The Great Filter theory suggests humans have already conquered the threat of extinction
2012 12 21
It’s difficult to not be pessimistic when considering humanity’s future prospects. Many people would agree that it’s more likely than not that we’ll eventually do ourselves in. And in fact, some astrobiologists theorize that all advanced civilizations hit the same insurmountable developmental wall we have. They call it the Great Filter. It’s a notion that’s often invoked to explain why ...
Confirmed: Section of Gotham Renamed “Sandy Hook” in Latest ‘Dark Knight’ Release
2012 12 21
A few days ago we posted an article pointing out that director Christopher Nolan’s latest Batman release “The Dark Knight Rises,” which was recently released on DVD, bizarrely featured a mention of the words “Sandy Hook” (at approximately 1:58). Since that “minor coincidence,” we’ve scoured the Batman movies and pored over various Gotham City maps to find anything that could support ...
’End of the Road’ for ACTA in Europe
2012 12 20
The controversial Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, or ACTA, which was broadly rejected by the European Parliament earlier this year, had a final nail driven into its coffin: the European Commission has reportedly dropped its plans to get it confirmed by the European Court of Justice. Human excreta could be a powerful source of cells to study disease, bypassing some of the problems of using stem cells, such as the risk of developing tumors and difficulties in obtaining blood samples from children. Mercury enters Capricorn - Venus in Sagittarius - Mars in Aquarius

Dec 31: Mercury enters Capricorn - This is a time for serious contemplation. Mercury's move into Capricorn signals a change of our thought process to one of getting down to business. Our minds begin to churn with ideas of how to make the world go around. And invariably, these ideas relate to finding the simplest, most practical way to do it. Capricorn is an earth sign and it's energy is rather heavy, so you may find it hard for some of those ideas to actually sift through into words. They will though, if you give it some time. Turn your mind to practical plans and solutions while Mercury’s in Capricorn Dec 30 to Jan 19.

December 15-January 8: Venus in Sagittarius - Reviewing life and taking a look at situations within relationships from a larger or wider perspective is what is needed now. Even a higher vantage point will be helpful. Venus enters Sagittarius on December 15th, 2012 and may very well bring the “expansive view” into interactions with others. With Venus in Sagittarius, it is time to integrate your spiritual and metaphysical concepts into day to day and within relationships to others.

December 25-February 1: Mars in Aquarius - When Mars transits through Aquarius, it carries forth the banner of freedom to break the rules to test out unknown ways. It keeps things fresh and interesting. Or perhaps the old strategies need to be upgraded moving out of tradition and into modern times. Mars in Aquarius really needs the freedom to express itself in perhaps odd and quirky ways. If the idea is a good one, it will have the energy to activate passion to take action and follow through. Since Aquarius is an air element, we are in the realm of thought, theory, idea and concepts. Mars symbolism is that of action and movement. Combine both and we have a “progressive Inner Warrior” vibe to work with. Mars in Aquarius also has the potential to be social and friendly which can help in taking our ideas out into the world.

David Talbott - Symbols of an Alien Sky, Mars, Cronus & The Electric Universe - December 15, 2011

David Talbott, a comparative mythologist whose work offers a radical new vantage point on the origin of ancient cultural themes and symbols, is the primary catalyst behind the "Saturn Model." He also proposes a "Polar Configuration," inspired by Immanuel Velikovsky involving the five planets Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mars and Earth. He claims that in ancient times the five planets orbited the Sun as a single linear unit, which rotated about a point close to Saturn, before its break-up at the end of the Golden Age. He claims that the violent evolution of this "Polar Configuration" provoked the myth-making epoch of human history.
