Members of the right-wing Party For Freedom delivered a petition urging the PM to resettle the refugees, a large percentage of which are expected to be Muslim, in his affluent electorate of Wentworth and surrounding areas.
The petition follow suggestions that in line with the current humanitarian resettlement model, Sydney may take up to 7,000 of the 12,000 refugees, with the majority housed in Fairfield and Liverpool in Sydney's west.
Party For Freedom leader Nick Folkes told Newzulu that despite asking "probably 150" people in the area, the petition only attracted one signature.
