Synthetic alcohol pill lets you get drunk without the hangover
By Ananth Baliga | UPI

Synthetic alcohol gets a buzz going without full intoxication, and no hangover.

The "synthehol" used by space explorers on Star Trek may soon be a reality.

A scientist at Imperial college London has identified molecules that reproduce the pleasurable effects of alcohol without causing a hangover the next day.

The pill also prevents intoxication, meaning drinkers could throw back several beers feeling only a mild buzz from beginning to end.

David Nutt, a professor of neuropsychopharmacology, said the new drug targets GABA, a chemical produced by the brain, and produces the same effects as alcohol. The drug selectively effects the GABA receptors, avoiding other brain receptors which lead to the undesirable effects of a night out drinking.

“There’s no question that you can produce a whole range of effects like alcohol by manipulating this system in the brain,” said Nutt. "In some experiments, the effect is indistinguishable from alcohol."

Nutt said that this could have an effect on public health as the drug could be used to block receptors, allowing drinkers sober up. Clever molecule modelling could also eliminate the risk of addiction associated with drinking.

Editors Note: And who controls US foreign policy? Listen to Jeff Gates. The present Swedish debate about war refugees from the Middle East is an example of peer restricted expression. In the name of political correctness or perceived decency, any questioning of maximum generosity in opening Swedish borders for the refugees is indignantly rejected by the official mainstream. Even if Patriot Act Expires, Government Will Keep Spying on All Americans

Government Will Use "Secret Interpretations" to Get Around Legal Prohibitions Mass surveillance under the Patriot Act is so awful that even its author says that the NSA has gone far beyond what the Act intended (and that the intelligence chiefs who said Americans aren't being spied on should be prosecuted for perjury). Specifically, the government is using a "secret interpretation" of the ...

All hands on deck for global, economic, corporate dictatorship There are dots to connect here. They're real, and they're spectacular. Let me begin with a brief exchange from a 1978 interview, conducted by reporter Jeremiah Novak. He was speaking with two American members of the Trilateral Commission (TC), a group founded in 1973 by David Rockefeller and his intellectual flunkey, Zbigniew Brzezinski. NOVAK: ...
Video: Who Owns the Federal Reserve

It's not like we don't have half a clue who actually "owns" the Federal Reserve, but we just wanted to know, superficially, who the Fed itself claims it is owned by (and, additionally, how the agency justifies its unchecked power). Apparently the agency never officially answers that question. See for yourself in the video above. Source: truthstreammedia.com

Reuters is reporting that Monsanto is demanding a sit-down with members of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). This international scientific body is being called on the carpet for reporting that Monsanto’s most widely sold herbicide, which is inextricably linked to the majority of their genetically engineered products, is probably carcinogenic to ...
