Our Shifting Emotional Center

by Jennifer Hoffman

This article is part of a series from the Archangel Uriel's book 'Shifting in Consciousness--the Process of Healing Humanity' that will be available soon.

It would be so easy to know when we’ve successfully moved through various parts of the Shift in Consciousness if we could have concrete evidence of our progress, like receiving a certificate of completion, or maybe having some sort of indicator on our body that shows us when we’re ‘done’. But it doesn’t happen that way. One way that we can tell that we making progress through the Shift is to observe its effect in what happens around us, the types of people that we attract, the way we respond to them and the situations that we experience. A critical element of the shift is healing karma and learning to respond to the world with detachment instead of reacting from our emotions. In this way, the Shift will help us to shift our emotional center from the lower chakras to the heart chakra in a process that I call shifting our emotional center of gravity. And it is also one way that we can receive confirmation of our progress through the Shift.

Just as we have a physical center of gravity that allows us to maintain our balance, we also have an emotional center of gravity, located in one of the body’s chakras, or energy centers, that represents the source of our emotional responses and our 'emotional balance.' The body has seven energy centers, or chakras, located at the base of the spine, navel, solar plexus, heart, throat, forehead and the top of the head. Each one has a specific energetic function within the body. The body's energy travels through the base of the spine into each of the seven chakras, which spin in a counterclockwise direction. If the energy is flowing freely through all seven chakras, we are said to be energetically balanced. But we are, based on our karmic history and soul group experiences, born with a pre-determined emotional center of gravity in one of the three lower chakras, which are related to third dimensional emotional activities.

The first three chakras relate to the material world and are the centers of structure and belonging, sexuality and survival, and ego and power, respectively. How we respond emotionally to our life’s situations indicates where we are keeping our emotional energy centered. If our energy is centered on anger and fear, we are first or root chakra centered. If our focus in on survival and sexuality, our energy is second chakra centered. When we are ego- or power-driven, our energy tends to be centered in the solar plexus or third chakra. Wherever the energy is centered, that becomes the focus of how we respond to the world, our emotional center of gravity. It is also how the world responds to us because we will attract energies that respond to our own emotional center of gravity.

This emotional center of gravity is the central point of our emotional body, the foundation for our emotional responses. It also represents the theme of the karmic lessons that we will experience in our lifetime. For example, people who are first chakra centered are prone to anger and emotional outbursts as their emotional outlet and this is how they view, connect with and respond to the world. Those who are second chakra centered are very focused on addictions, sexuality and personal power as their emotional outlets. Those who are third chakra centered have issues with personality, self-esteem and the ego. Our emotional center of gravity attracts emotional experiences that keep us within this center. Even though we may not find these experiences pleasant, they help us stay centered in a space that is known and familiar to us, no matter how uncomfortable we are there. But once we heal these experiences we will be able to shift ourselves out of these patterns and move into another dimension of emotional experiences.

When we experience the Shift, our energy focus will move up to the fourth or heart chakra. This is the beginning of the upper level chakras and is where we connect with Spirit, God or the Universe, where the ego and spirit connect. The emotional shift to the fourth chakra will allow many of us, for the first time, to change our focus from the ego and third dimension, to rise up to the heart and increase our vibrational patterns. This will throw many of us off balance because it will upset our emotional center of gravity for a while, until we learn to adjust to the change.

This is a significant healing process will provide us with situations that will allow us to assess, review and live through what may appear to be the worst of our emotional center's lessons as we learn to let go, detach and release ourselves from our karmic emotional lessons. There will be physical and emotional symptoms associated with this change, including disorientation, dizziness, having extremely emotional responses, and feeling out of touch with our emotions. Know that as your emotional center shifts, you may also feel these types of symptoms.

That does not mean that the Shift will remove our emotions and emotional responses. Far from it. We will still have the ability to have emotions and emotional responses, they will just be different, less upsetting, less drastic and chaotic, and they will have less power over us. We will be able to experience detachment and in many cases, learn the message of our lessons without having to experience them in their entirety. In shifting our emotional center, the Shift will help us remove the control that our emotions have over us by shifting the focus from our emotional body to our spiritual body. This will enable us to move out of the third dimensional emotional structure into a higher vibration that is not ruled by karma-focused emotional responses.

Once your emotional center has shifted to the heart chakra, you will begin to feel your heart center opening up and if you focus on that area, you may notice that it has increased its energy and you actually feel different. You may feel more joyful, happier, more connected to Spirit. You may also find that things that once made you angry or upset no longer have the power to evoke the same kind of response from you. It will be easier to detach from the emotional responses and to be more objective about things that once may have evoked old, familiar reactions. You may also be aware that, especially if you were first chakra centered, you have lost your tolerance for violence or things that inspire violence or anger. No, you will not lose your interest in sex if you have been second chakra focused, but you will find that your feelings about it have changed and it may become less of an obsession or overriding interest that it was previously. You may also find that the kind of intimate partners that you now attract may change. If you have been third chakra focused, you may have fewer issues with power, self-esteem or the ego than you did before your emotional center of gravity changed.

Be gentle with yourself and understand that this is all part of the Shift. As your emotional center is shifting you may also feel very off-balance, uncensored and may even lose control of your emotions at times. Practicing deep, intentional breathing and focusing on moving the energy may help to stabilize your emotions during this shifting procedure. I believe that this is all part of the process and it is important not to resist the emotions, but to accept them and allow them to happen so that they can be released. Once they re released, you will feel much more centered and will also find that since your emotional energy is more evenly distributed (not centered in a single chakra) that your emotional responses may be more balanced as well. When you can experience an event that once would have thrown you completely off balance or filled you with terror, you know that you are succeeding in your own personal Shift in Consciousness.
