October 18, 2013 - Penumbral Lunar Eclipse & Full Moon in Aries
The penumbral lunar eclipse on October 18 will be visible from the eastern half of North America, as well as South America, Europe, Africa, and portions of western Asia. The Full Moon will pass through the outer edge (penumbra) of Earth's shadow, and there should be a noticeable dimming of its disk. However, it will not enter the dark umbra of Earth's shadow as it does during a total lunar eclipse. The middle of the eclipse occurs at 7:50 pm EDT.
This Lunar Eclipse will occur as the Moon passes in front of the constellation of Aries at 25º45’ and is in exact alignment with the Earth moving opposite the Moon in front of the constellation of Libra at 25º45’. The duration of this lunar eclipse will be 3 hours, 59 minutes and 6 seconds. It will be affecting people born with personal planets and points at approx- imately 20 to 30 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) most significantly.
The Lunar Eclipse in Aries emphasizes the need to work with others and demands some degree of compromise and accommodation. It’s better to sit on the fence, gather some information and mull over things over than than race ahead impulsively. Though the spotlight is on Aries and Libra, we will all feel pushed to the max. All Lunar Eclipses are powerful Full Moons that are ‘course correctors’ and are meant to change your life often in a way that is completely unexpected.
This Lunar Eclipse also emphasizse alternative ways to make life work instead of acting as if there’s only one road to fulfillment. Beliefs may not hold up in the face of changing circumstances that require flexibility instead of certainty. Asking questions reveals options that multiply choices, creating confusion – for some – but freeing most of us from rigid thinking and excessive judgment.
This eclipse in Aries could rock relationships. It is meant to free your mind and force strong feelings to the surface. You must make a choice and take a stand on principles that may likely displease someone else.
