Sunspots come and go, but recently they have mostly gone. For centuries, astronomers have recorded when these dark blemishes on the solar surface emerge, only for them to fade away again after a few days, weeks or months. Thanks to their efforts, we know that sunspot numbers ebb and flow in cycles lasting about 11 years.

I couldn't help thinking this way while posting the article about the strange behavior of the Sun right now. Is it the quiet before the solar storms in 2012? Is the clip from ...

Betelgeuse: Ready to go Supernova?
2010 06 13
The red supergiant Betelgeuse would extend to Jupiter if it were put in the sun's place in the solar system. A new study suggests it has shrunk by more than 15 per cent since 1993 (Image: A. Dupree/CFA/R. Gilliland/STScI/NASA/ESA) Pinned prominently on Orion's shoulder, the bright red star Betelgeuse hardly seems like a wallflower. But a new study suggests the giant ...

Sun in Cancer June 21 to July 22 - The Summer Solstice - The Coming Grand Cross

In Cancer, the Sun is more reserved, sensitive, somewhat shy and intuitive. Cancer, the fourth sign of the zodiac, is all about home and family. Those born under this sign are 'roots' kinds of people, and take great pleasure in the comforts of home and family. While the Sun is in Cancer, we're reminded of our roots and to connect/re-connect with family, biological or otherwise.

June 25 to August 5, 2010 is when Pluto, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter and Mars finally create their Grand Cross pattern, all aligning at the beginning degrees of the four Cardinal signs. The current slow creation of the coming Cardinal Grand Cross involves four planets (Uranus and Jupiter, the Moon's South Node, Mars and Saturn, and lastly, Pluto and the Moon's North Node) that will be in the Cardinal signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

This configuration brings conflicting energies into our awareness, thereby motivating growth. There is also a tendency for the opposing energies to become polarized, creating a stalemate situation. The opposition connections create a tension where the two opposing planets see each other across the circle, yet must learn to understand and talk to one another in order to get along. Eventually, there is a meeting in the middle, a balance point, where the energies from both planets are equally utilized.

There is a change of focus and mindset in a square, a restlessness of sorts, requiring us to take in new information that we didn't know we needed when we began. Sometimes we aren't really willing to do so; therefore the interaction is not always smooth or fulfilling. The squares usually connect conflicting elements, such as water and fire or earth and air. Each must figure out a way to connect with the other, find common ground so to speak.

A Cardinal Grand Cross is said to cause a particular difficulty in accomplishing goals because the individual wants to accomplish everything at the same time: usually he/she ends up accomplishing very little if anything. Cardinal signs are typically focused with the question of self and identity as well as actions surrounding these. Remembering that the key when dealing with the Cardinal Grand Cross is to be alert to the stressors and how those stressors relate to one's identity. Knowing who you are and what you need makes it less difficult to make decisions.

Lastly, don't forget the Summer Solstice on June 20 - 21.

The Reflexology Atlas

Of all the ancient practices that have been revived by the growth of alternative healing, reflexology is one of the most popular. It is easy to learn, can be applied anywhere, and is especially well-suited to self-treatment or the treatment of a partner. It is also excellent for the treatment of children. The Reflexology Atlas is the first comprehensive reference guide to provide an overview of and instructions for the many forms of reflexology--foot reflexology, hand reflexology, ear reflexology, head reflexology, and the total massage known as Shiatsu.

Reflexology provides a quick and effective treatment for many of the health disorders experienced by people in today’s world. Among the treatments included by Drs. Kolster and Waskowiak are reflexology techniques for allergies, joint problems, headaches, back pain, sleep disorders, and heart and circulatory problems. The Reflexology Atlas puts these techniques at your fingertips with its step-by-step instructions illustrated in full color.

We have this in our Red Ice library and refer to it often!

Nature

Do you know what animal lives the longest? The winner is the Turitopsis nutricula or Hydrozoan, also known as the immortal jellyfish. This creature, unofficially, can be considered to have the longest lifespan. The Hydrozoan species Turitopsis nutricula is capable of cycling from a mature adult stage to an immature polyp stage and back again, indefinitely. This means there is no limit to its life span!
