London unveils creepy-looking mascots for 2012 Olympics - Rife with Symbolism
2010 05 20 Though strange in form, and suspect in function, it is nearly certain they will remain as the marketing choice to ’inspire kids’ (whether to participate in sports or simply spend gobs of money on expensive merchandise is still debatable)...
"Following the ridicule over the £400,000 Olympic logo, their creators will be hoping that Wenlock and Mandeville get a more favourable reception - even though they too carry the much-mocked 2012 image." |

Getting Comfortable with Stupidity
2010 05 16 This is an excellent article describing why in science it is important to feel comfortable with ones stupidity (more like ignorance than stupidity). Non-scientists may not realize that most of the time in scientific research, especially research at the edge of the known -- which is where all the excitement is -- that we really dont know what were doing. ...

Jupiter Opposes Saturn May 23 - A Decade Past, The Decade Ahead
One of the great, consistent timing mechanisms in all of astrology is the meeting and opposition of Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter orbits the zodiac in a consistent 4,331 days. That is almost 12 years. A whole orbit of Saturn lasts 10,759 days. That is just under 29 and a half years. These two wind up in the same place in the sky for about half of one year every 20 years. At the halfway point, they are opposed in the sky. Throughout the history of astrology, epochs are marked as beginning with the meeting of Jupiter and Saturn in the heavens. These eras peak ten years later at the opposition mark. Soon after, the structures that have been created in the first decade following the meeting begin to crumble. It takes these ten years to pass to see what is truly lasting from the seeds planted at the get-together.
2010 will see Jupiter and Saturn oppose each other. This gives everyone in the astrological know a chance to examine where you have come from, where you are now and to foresee where you want to go. A decade in review at present can greatly assist you in reaching your potential in the decade ahead! Dream big with Jupiter but get down to business with Saturn.
Where were you in 2000? Jupiter and Saturn got together on May 28 of that year. You can draw a line in the historical sand and see so much that has changed since then. But while the planetary interactions affect the world at large, they also mark the happenings in your own life. Think back to what you were going through at that time…

Useful Info |
In 1992 Dr. Joseph Kirschvink, a professor at the California Institute of Technology, discovered very tiny crystals made of magnetite, which is the most magnetic substance known to man, in human brains (as well as some animals and bacteria). Specifically, these magnetite crystals can be found in a cluster of nerves around the pituitary and pineal gland.
Joe suspected that they might account for the possible influence of strong electromagnetic fields on human health. Increased magnetite levels in the brain have been linked to brain cancer, childhood leukemia, epilepsy, parkinsons and alzheimer's. What we don't know is what triggers their production.
Are these crystals acting like tiny antennae receiving and transmitting electromagnetic signals? What are the messages in these signals and what if these signals are messed with? There is crystal in our DNA, crystal in our brain, and crystal in the earth's core. The ancient Mayans, Hebrew, Vedic and Native American cultures used crystals in spiritual rituals and as aids to physical healing. Hindu sage and seer, Lama-Sing, has said of the forgotten crystal technology. Perhaps it's vital that we all spend some time remembering to polish and tune our crystals.
