New Mega-Quake Measuring 8.5 Mag. Hits Sumatra

A mega-quake measuring 8.5 magnitude has just hit off the coast of Sumatra. At this time there are no reports of damage or fatalities.
A tsunami warning has been issued for the surrounding area. The following is what was released.
An earthquake has occurred with these preliminary parameters. There is the possibility of a tsunami near the epicenter. Origin time: 005-Zulu December 26th 2004. Coordinates - 3.4 North by 97.7 East. Location is off W. coast of Northern Sumatra. There has been a revised magnitude of 8.5. Evaluation revised based on analysis of mantle waves.
This will be the only bulletin issued for this event unless additional information becomes available.
