The dark side of the moon is turquoise, say astronomers

Measurements from a telescope in Hawaii show blue light reflected from Earth turns turquoise when it bounces off moon
Iíll see you on the turquoise side of the moon:
earthlight is shifted towards the red end of the spectrum when reflected from the moonís dark side.
In a demonstration of the power of science to ruin a perfectly respectable work of art, researchers have discovered the colour of the dark side of the moon.
Measurements from a telescope in Hawaii mean that pedants may now argue that, technically speaking, if one wanted to be entirely accurate, the side of the moon referred to in Pink Floydís 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon should really be described as "turquoise".
The revelation comes from two years of measurements by an international team of astronomers who installed a telescope and a sensitive camera at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii, run by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The dark side of the moon is not the same as the far side, which gets as much sunlight as the side facing us. The dark side is not lit directly by sunlight, but by light reflected from Earth. It is much fainter, and best seen around the time of the new moon.
"This is sunshine that struck the Earth, was coloured by the Earth, was reflected up to the moon, struck the moon, and then came back to us," said Peter Thejll, a senior scientist at the Danish Meteorological Institute in Copenhagen and first author on the study.
Images of Earth from space show clearly that the planet looks blue. But when this blue light strikes the moon, the light thatís reflected back is turquoise.
"Astronauts standing on the moon and looking up at the Earth described it as a blue marble," said Thejll. "Having not been into space myself, I donít know what they meant exactly, but once that blue light strikes the moonís surface, it shifts to a blue-green colour. We can call it turquoise."

Swedish politician: US is the true cause of the masses of refugees from the Middle East
Editors Note: And who controls US foreign policy? Listen to Jeff Gates.
The present Swedish debate about war refugees from the Middle East is an example of peer restricted expression. In the name of political correctness or perceived decency, any questioning of maximum generosity in opening Swedish borders for the refugees is indignantly rejected by the official mainstream. We have a ...
Even if Patriot Act Expires, Government Will Keep Spying on All Americans
Government Will Use "Secret Interpretations" to Get Around Legal Prohibitions
Mass surveillance under the Patriot Act is so awful that even its author says that the NSA has gone far beyond what the Act intended (and that the intelligence chiefs who said Americans aren't being spied on should be prosecuted for perjury).
Specifically, the government is using a "secret interpretation" of the ...
The TPP, Monsanto, Rockefeller, Trilateral Commission, Brzezinski
All hands on deck for global, economic, corporate dictatorship
There are dots to connect here. They're real, and they're spectacular.
Let me begin with a brief exchange from a 1978 interview, conducted by reporter Jeremiah Novak. He was speaking with two American members of the Trilateral Commission (TC), a group founded in 1973 by David Rockefeller and his intellectual flunkey, Zbigniew Brzezinski.
Video: Who Owns the Federal Reserve
It's not like we don't have half a clue who actually "owns" the Federal Reserve, but we just wanted to know, superficially, who the Fed itself claims it is owned by (and, additionally, how the agency justifies its unchecked power).
Apparently the agency never officially answers that question. See for yourself in the video above.
Monsanto's "Discredit Bureau" really does exist
Reuters is reporting that Monsanto is demanding a sit-down with members of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). This international scientific body is being called on the carpet for reporting that Monsanto’s most widely sold herbicide, which is inextricably linked to the majority of their genetically engineered products, is probably carcinogenic to ...
