Bogus reports that “HAARP has shut down”?
Red Ice Comment: We recently posted this story, regarding the claim that the HAARP facility is closed down.
When first reading the article from alaskadispatch.com it indeed sounded "too good to be true." Initially doubting the story, we decided to post it for the nature of the interesting claim in the article. The article was well (enough) written and is based on the report from arrl.org (American Radio Relay League). At first it seemed like a legit report. Now there are others who are doubting the validity of the story as well. Below is a video and some more information from dutchsince’s website that counter the claims that HAARP is closed down. The video is from "Tatoott1009Reloaded."
It’s also worth noting that this article (also from alaskadispatch.com) regarding a researcher with ties to HAARP who is facing big fines for fraud, might also not be correct. At this time, take the stories coming out from alaskadispatch.com with a bigger then usual grain of salt, until further proof can be presented that something is up with HAARP, up in Alaska.

Bogus reports that “HAARP has shut down”.
Unfortunately, these reports are NOT accurate.
Quote the inaccurate report:
The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) — a subject of fascination for many hams and the target of conspiracy theorists and anti-government activists — has closed down. HAARP’s program manager, Dr James Keeney at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, told ARRL that the sprawling 35-acre ionospheric research facility in remote Gakona, Alaska, has been shuttered since early May.
“Currently the site is abandoned,” he said. “It comes down to money. We don’t have any.” Keeney said no one is on site, access roads are blocked, buildings are chained and the power turned off. HAARP’s website through the University of Alaska no longer is available; Keeney said the program can’t afford to pay for the service. “Everything is in secure mode,” he said, adding that it will stay that way at least for another 4 to 6 weeks. In the meantime a new prime contractor will be coming on board to run the government owned-contractor operated (GOCO) facility.
and this nugget:
“The proximate cause of HAARP’s early May shutdown was less fiscal than environmental, Keeney said. As he explained it, the diesel generators on site no longer pass Clean Air Act muster. Repairing them to meet EPA standards will run $800,000. Beyond that, he said, it costs $300,000 a month just to keep the facility open and $500,000 to run it at full capacity for 10 days. .”
This is foolishness..
Shutdown in May, but budgets and experiments allocated far into 2014? This means HAARP is NOT shut down, and “abandoned” as they say. The money is allocated for the next 2 years.
Many laughs at “abandoned”. :)
The second untruth is saying that the diesel generators at HAARP are not meeting “Clean Air Act” standards, thus being shut off. I don’t even really need to address this, other than to call it what it is. Bunk.
