Talk about a state of nirvana.

A group of scientists have declared Matthieu Ricard, a French researcher turned Buddhist monk, as the “happiest man on earth.”

This was after they discovered that his brain produces a level of gamma waves they had never seen before in neuroscience.

The son of a philosopher and a painter, Ricard is a monk in the Himalayas and an advisor of the Dalai Lama. But before that, he was a molecular geneticist and interacted with numerous musicians and a handful of Nobel Prize winners.

Scientists found an excessive activity in his brain’s left pre-frontal cortex gives him an especially large capacity for happiness and reduces his tendency towards negativity.
