Whitley Strieber says object found in Baltic Sea may be older than Gobekli Tepe
2012 06 20
By Donna Anderson | Examiner.com
On Monday, June 18, 2012, Whitley Strieber, of UnkownCountry.com, joined George Noory during the opening news segment on Coast to Coast AM to discuss the UFO-like object that was recently discovered deep under the Baltic Sea between Finland and Sweden.
Swedish explorers have put to rest speculation that the object is some sort of spaceship and now belive it’s a natural formation.
George wasted no time on pleasantries with Strieber and cut right to the chase. "Whitley, this is a bizarre story!"
To which, Strieber replied,
"Well, it’s a very interesting story because this object, at some point in the past, was probably above water. In other words, before the end of the last Ice Age, in the area where it is, the sea level was much lower because all the sea water was trapped in the glaciers."
"And, at that time, what appear to be stone fireplaces on the surface of it, may have been in use. And if that’s true, and if there are carbon deposits on those stone surfaces, it’s probably going to be possible to find out about how old it is and when fires were lit there."
"And it could turn out to be on of the oldest human artifacts ever found on the planet, rivaling the age of Gobekli Tepe in Turkey, which has recently been found to be 14,000 years old. This could potentially be a very exciting archaeological find."
Gobekli Tepe is an archaeological site located about eight miles northeast of Sanliurfa, Turkey, not far from the Syrain border. The circles of limestone columns being excavated weigh from 7 to 15 tons each and are estimated to be at least 12,000 years old, making them older than the Egypt, Sumeria and Stonehenge.
